These factors are called <strong>Core Web Vitals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the last few years, Google has been adding more and more page experience metrics as ranking factors. For example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Mobile friendliness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loading (how quickly pages load)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HTTPs security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>May 2021<\/strong>, Core Web Vitals will become a ranking signal as part of the page experience ranking signals. To provide a good user experience, LCP should occur <strong>within 2.5 seconds<\/strong> of when your webpage first starts loading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>First Input Delay (FID)<\/strong> \u2013 measures interactivity. To provide a good user experience, your pages should have a FID of<strong> less than 100 milliseconds<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)<\/strong> \u2013 measures visual stability on a page. Simply put, it represents how often an unexpected movement of page elements affects the user experience. To provide a good user experience, your pages should maintain a CLS of <strong>less than 0.1<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Why are Core Web Vitals important?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s why you need to pay attention to optimizing the Core Web Vitals:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Google confirmed that Core Web Vitals will become official ranking signals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These signals will affect all regular search results on mobile and desktop.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chromium.org\/2020\/05\/the-science-behind-web-vitals.html\">Google\u2019s study<\/a>, when a website meets a minimum threshold of core web vitals, users are 24% less likely to abandon the site.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alongside the Google News requirements, Core Web Vitals will become <strong>a criteria to appear<\/strong> in<strong> Google Top Stories<\/strong> (a SERP feature that displays news stories for a related search query). It will help you find issues and prioritize their elimination.
